The sleeping woman’s dream is guarded by a reddish-brown fox. Where did this fox come from and why?
On a sleepy autumn morning, the fox becomes attentive to a peculiar sound and sets off to find the source of the enchanting music. This leads it to
the city, where it discovers the woman playing the cello in the painter’s studio.
The story was inspired by Róbert Berény’s painting titled “Sleeping Woman with a Fox” and is part of the (Paper Theater) series, which adapts the works of famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Katsushika Hokusai, Franz Marc, and François Pompon.
At the end of the story, we can read about the original painting and the creation of the Paper Theater tale from art historian Emese Révész and author Krisztina Maros .
